With countries around the world placing greater importance on strengthening their infrastructure, highway construction is one area in which rapid development has brought on several challenges and hazards. During the course of construction, rock and soil disturbance results in slope instability, making a disastrous landslide a possible danger. In addition, other environmental issues such as soil erosion, habitat destruction, and reduction of vegetation cover have a large effect on the survival and well-being of nearby animals, plants, and even humans. It is necessary to adopt the appropriate engineering and environmental protective measures, in order to ensure driver safety and enhance the surrounding view while on the road.This research project will examine the construction of the Sichuan Yaxi Expressway, rely on ecological theory to investigate the status of vegetation growth along the side slope of the construction site and obtain statistics detailing the vegetation coverage, richness, diversity, uniformity, and other related factors that serve as indicators of vegetation restoration. An evaluation system will be established to assess the afforestation efforts of the slope surface and determine the effectiveness of the engineering and ecological protective measures as well as the socio-economic consequences. Furthermore, the analytic hierarchy process will be combined with an expert scoring method in order to assign weights to each category, and the study will finally undergo a comprehensive evaluation to deduce the overall effect on the restoration of slope vegetation, resulting in a scale of excellent, good, fair, poor, and very poor. This study’s findings will serve as a guide to develop measures aimed at managing and protecting slope vegetation during the construction process.The investigation for the eight slopes on the field, although the geographical location is different it is basically the same geological conditions, adequate rainfall, climate temperatures are similar, but the greening effect is quite different, and some good effect green slope, vegetation growing well, almost no bare slope, but less effective but some green vegetation are brown, bare slope larger area. The main reason lies in the construction engineering protection measures are not in place in some slope, slope instability, severe flaking slope base, while species with poor vegetation, green vegetation is not well in the early and quickly cover the entire slope, making severe slope erosion base. Mainly in the construction of slope stability based remedy only after a stable slope spray coated substrate can be securely affixed to cover on the slope, in order to provide a favorable environment for the growth of vegetation, they will continue to provide nutrition while focus on the early fast green vegetation cover, rainfall on the slope to reduce erosion.
