The problems caused by the pursuit of high speed and light weight of railway vehicles, such as the reduction of the strength and stiffness of vehicle structure and the decrease in the riding comfort, etc. should be solved through the tests carried out with test rigs of railway vehicles. However, the cost for test rig and complete vehicle tests are relatively high and the invested labor and materials are relatively more. Moreover, the testing time is relatively long. Therefore, proportional carbody vibration test rig can be used to replace the complete vehicle test partially to carry out modal tests to gain the modal parameters of the proportional carbody.According to the basic principles of mechanical design and mechanical principles and the basic requirements of modal test, three-dimensional software Solidworks is adopted to design the structure of the proportional carbody test rig (1:8). Mechanics equation is established for the proportional carbody. ANSYS software is adopted to check the strength of key components and analyze the influence of carbody supporting manner on the system response. The established test rig is used to carry out modal tests for the proportional carbody. Such required parameters as frequency, vibration mode and damp, etc. are obtained with professional data acquisition and processing software. The collected results are compared with the test results to verify the consistency between the calculated results and the test results.ANSYS Workbench software is used to carry out transient analysis and harmonic response analysis for the proportional carbody to gain the frequency-response function. The simulation analysis results are compared with the test results to optimize the measure points and response points of the proportional carbody in the modal test.
