With the energy crisis, power shortage and the increasing of other environmental problems, energy storage technology has become a hot topic in recent years. Phase change energy storage technology is a new energy storage technology based on the PCM(phase change materials). In this article, phase change energy storage technology will be used in a long period of container transport in low temperature environments.This paper will use the Eurasia International Railway to transport computers from Chongqing to Northern Europe in winter. By contrasting and analyzing the different method in thermal insulation of container, integrating the requirements of the topic, designed the insulation way of container was using insulation material layer combined with PCM layer.This paper determined to use the polyurethane material for the insulation material layer. According to the phase rule, phase diagram theory, analyzed the phase diagram and phase change mechanism of binary eutectic system, moreover analyzed the characteristics of the organic PCM and inorganic PCM, then chose the sodium chloride solution as the phase change material in this paper. While the satisfying concentrations of sodium chloride solutions were17%,18%,19%and20%.Calculated the relationship between the insulation material layer’s thickness and the PCM layer’s thickness, preliminarily estimated the thickness of PCM layer, then according to the requirements of the container’s volume, determined the thickness of the insulation material layer based on the basic condition.Built the experimental bench of model container, used the temperature patrol instrument to monitor the measuring points’ temperature variation over time. At the same time, established a numerical calculation model the same size as the experimental model. By applying the FLUENT software to simulate the3D of temperature changes process of the whole container and the solidifying process of the phase change material. Monitored the temperature of the same position with the experimental measuring points. Compared the experimental results and numerical results, the temperature changes of the same measuring points were basically consistent. Finally, by calculating the errors of temperature between the experiment and simulation measuring points, they could be accepted in the project. Therefore, the numerical calculation model and the calculation methods could obtain the similar results with the experiment. So in the subsequent calculation, this method can be used.Established the numerical model of the true size of the container, simulated the temperature distribution and the solid-liquid ratio of each concentrations of sodium chloride solutions, which were17%,18%,19%and20%used as the PCM in container. By comparing and analyzing the four concentrations’ temperature field, the temperature of center point and the solid-liquid ratio, and found the application requirements of the temperature field, finalize to choose the19%of sodium chloride solution in this project as a phase change material.
