Over the past ten years, automobile industry developed rapidly in China. By the sametime, consumers become more and more rational and picky. In a word, only the manufacturerwho can produce low-cost cars with high quality will be able to lead the fashion ofconsumption. Thus, automobile manufacturers compete fiercely in research, trying todevelopment efficient and accurate process, by which fashionable cars of high strength andlight weight can be produced.Serving in tough environment, the wheel is one of the most important load-bearingparts of automobile. Wheel producers in our country mainly adopt casting process inproducing wheels. Compared with cast aluminum wheels, forged aluminum wheels havehigher strength, higher profit margin and better quality. As forged wheels gains its popularity,it is necessary for wheel manufacturers to apply forging and spinning process in wheelproduction. So, it has been a problem urgent to be solved that how to efficiently produceforged wheels of various styles with high quality. In the thesis, the production process of a typical wheel is analyzed. By applyingtraditional plastic forming theory to analyzing process of forging and spinning, the selectionranges of parameters used in simulation are narrowed. Then, based on finite elementnumerical simulation, the influence of process parameters on wheel forging is quantitativelystudied. At last, a set of optimized process parameters was obtained and numericalsimulation verifies the feasibility of these optimized process parameters.Compared with traditional forming theory, the numerical simulation method can furtherreduce practical trials. Also, the time cost is very low. Due to the limitations of the finite element theory and simulation software, there exists certain gap between simulation resultsand real effects. But their variation trends are similar and in most cases, the gap is acceptable. Therefore, the conclusion of this thesis has certain reference significance on practicalproduction.
