The steering knuckle is a key component on the chassis of the car and is more complex in shape.It not only supports the weight of the car body,but also transmits the steering torque and withstands the braking torque of the front wheel brake.Therefore,its mechanical properties and shape structure are very strict and difficult to manufacture.So,how to produce high-quality car steering knuckle parts by using efficient and energy-saving methods has become an urgent problem to be solved in production.In this subject,we proposed two forming processes of non-quenched and tempered steel 38 MnVTi steering knuckle parts according to the hot forging forming theory and taking automobile steering knuckle as the research object.A three-dimensional thermo-mechanical coupled finite element model was established for the blanking,pre-forging and final forging processes by UG8.0 and DEFORM-3D finite element simulation software.The finite element simulation analysis was carried out to obtain the flow law of metal during the forming process,the distribution of stress,strain,velocity,temperature field,damage and maximum principal stress,and the stroke-load curve.Through analysis,it was found that the products obtained by the process of swaging-upsetting-preforming-final molding have excellent mechanical properties.Subsequently,physical experiments were carried out on the above technology.The mechanical properties of non-quenched and tempered steel 38 MnVTi were affected by deformation temperature,strain rate and strain by high temperature compression test,hardness test,friction and wear test and electrochemical corrosion test.The correctness of numerical simulation results and the technology feasibility were verified,which provides a reference for the development of the knuckle production process.
