The tire mechanic characteristic is the fundamental of vehicle dynamics. Peopleapproach to study the mechanical properties of the tire with different tire modeling methodfor a long time. The modeling work has been more focused on the steady-statecharacteristics of the tire. The study of unsteady characteristics is limited to a singledirection of movement of the tire and the linear region characteristics of road adhesion. Most of tire model extended the result based on the linear region to nonlinear zone in thesemi-empirical method. Make use of the steady-state model to calculate the unsteadynonlinear characteristics of tire. This approach makes the tire unsteady characteristics builtunder the complex sports have no reasonable theoretical foundation. Meanwhile, as thetire movement input, the road surface friction characteristics, the tire contact patch shapeand pressure distribution become more complex, derivation of the theoretical modelbecomes extremely difficult, the theoretical guidance is also limited. Based on the abovereasons, combining modeling discrete simulation models, this article about the researchwork are carried out as below:1. Discrete simulation modeling without considering the wide of the tire. First, starting from simple modeling and the tire width is not a considered factor. The tirecontact patch area is assumed as a straight line. Consider a tire having the same pressureand deformation distribution in the tire width direction. Under cornering composited withlongitudinal sliding condition, equation of discrete simulation models for lateral force, longitudinal force and aligning torque are deduced, meanwhile, tease out an iterativemethod for solving the model. This also lays the foundation for fine discrete simulationmodels with further consideration of complex factors. At the same time, it can be acomparison model to analyze the influence of different factors on the expression of themechanical properties of the tire.2. Fine discrete simulation modeling considering complex factors. Considering theeffects of tire width, shape change, and pressure distribution in contact patch area acted on the mechanical properties to improve the ability of the model to express the differentconditions of the mechanical properties of the tire and provide a basis for the developmentof physical models with high precision.3. Typical tire steady and non-steady state conditions simulation. Based on discretesimulation model and the associated tire steady and unsteady test data, make theverification of the model.
