With the growing energy consumption of industrial development, people putforward higher requirements on how to efficiently manage energy. On the otherhand,highly developed technology shifts our lifes into the internet of things. Thesetwo factors will make the traditional manual meter reading seem outdated.Under thissituation, wireless meter reading technology and efficient management started tobecome mainstream. In this aspect, ZigBee network depending on its excellentperformance, reliable secure transmission has become the first choice for smartenergy applications. This article demonstrates the ZigBee technology based on smartmeters to take a new attempt and exploration.This article demonstrates the application of the smart electricity meter based onZigBee technology.According to the ZigBee standard protocol stack,using theEmber(Now is the part of Silicon Lab) company’s SoC chip EM250to develop acommon wireless networking module.With this, the total design of the SmartElectricity Meter has accomplished.Except finishing the data transmission,parsing theAT command， encryption and such more basic function,it also make the twodifferenet and independent program framework for the ESP and IHD.Through this,the user could build the smart sensor network based on the ZigBee technology.After completment of the development of the meter, some tests have been takenin the lab and field. Some kinds of scenarios have been simulated.It includes API test,secruity test and network test.We have concluded some useful test sample andanalysis them.Through this, optimization about the routing has been taken to make thenetwork performance more realiable.Compared with current application,this article demonstrates a more compatibledesign.We could supply the user easier and more efficient APIs.By this, the user cantake right solution on specific situation.And it also make user more flexiable.In theend,it has come to the truth that smart network has been built and meter is runningvery well.
