The simply supported beam bridge has become the main type of the bridge construction in China, most of which are concrete structure. In order to ensure the driving comfort, the continuous deck is widely used in the simply supported beam bridge. At present, the research on the behavioral mechanism of continuous deck is few and the continuous deck’s effect on the bridge span is inconclusive, that lead to the lack of sufficient theoretical support for the design of continuous deck, which is usually designed according to the experience or construction requirements. On the other hand, that always leads to the damage of the continuous deck during use. In this thesis, there will be an analysis of the behavioral mechanism of continuous deck and the continuous deck’s effect on the bridge span. The main contents of this paper are as follows:1. This thesis introduces the development process of simply supported beam bridge with continuous deck, the research status quo at home and abroad and the structure form of the three kinds of continuous deck.2. Based on linear elasticity theory and the application of force method, the internal force calculation method for simply supported beam bridge with continuous deck is deduced.3. The finite element method and the simulation method for simply supported beam bridge with continuous deck are discussed.4. With the application of commonly used finite element software, a25m span,40m span simply supported T beam bridge model with continuous deck, a16m span simply supported hollow slab girder bridge model with continuous deck and their corresponding model of simply supported beam bridge are established. The influence of secondary internal forces and the stress behavior of the bridge span and the continuous deck are analyzed. The effect of span and section shape to the simply supported beam bridge with continuous deck is investigated. In comparison with the simply supported beam bridge, the force and the deformation differences between the two types of bridges are analyzed, some important conclusions are drawn.
