Cable structures do not have stiffness unless given any pre-tension, and they have no shape. In order to become the structure that can withstand load, it is necessary to press certain pre-tension to have shape. Under given border conditions, the distribution of this pre-tension and the shape of the structure are inter-connected."Finding form" of tension structure is how to conform this connection. Precisely we call it "the definition of original balanced shape" or "the analysis of original shape".First of all the Overhead Catenary System (OCS) is one kind of cable structures. Given certain outer tension, it will form a certain shape. Based on this principle, we could calculate the length of droppers and the elasticity by programming under ANSYS.In real operations of OCS, many factors could affect the elasticity such as tension of contact line, length of span, tension of catenary, distribution and density of droppers, height of structures and so on. Although there are so many factors, the influence of each factor is different. In this paper, the author call the degree of this influence "the sensitivity of elasticity". Use simulation to calculate the sensitivity of elasticity of mentioned factors quantitatively.At last by analyzing some Catenary faults occurred in Shanghai-Nanking high speed railway, the author apply the results of simulation to how to decrease the uneven of elasticity. Thus to improve the dynamic behavior of pantograph-OCS system and to eliminate the mentioned Catenary faults. And final to provide theory foundations of active maintenance of high speed railway catenary.
