With its large ransporting volume, low cost and as a very important mode of transporting, the heavy haul transportation is developing rapidly around the world. With the developed significantly in the United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, Russia and othe countries the1980s; the axle load of these heavy haul train is generally above29t and the maximum axle load is40t; many Europe countries, such as Germany, France, Sweden and Norway and so on are using heavy haul transporting technology. The heavy haul train of heavy axle, light weight, high load and low power is developed a researched around the world. As the key technology of the heavy haul transportation, the axle load of the bogie is improved constantly; the freight car bogie of heavy axle is developed and researched in many countries; and the load of each car is improved, the transporting efficiency is improved by the this way. The20,000tons of coal unit train is operated on the Datong-Qinhuangdao line successfully, which shows that our heavy transportation has been further developed; China has become the country with highest efficient railway transportation. But the maximum axle load of our country is25t; the low axle load restricted the further development of the heavy transportation of our country.The bogie of heavy load axle technology of China is far behind than advanced level of abroad. The operation of heavy haul results in increased wheel-rail wear; and the wear of straight rail is increased; the small-radius curve of the side wear of the rail is increased to bigger radius curve, the wear range an wear rate is increased too. The radial bogie can not only maintain a high stability, good curving performance, reduce the angle of attack but also reduce wheel-rail wear, wheel-rail dynamic action and energy consumption, and environmentally friendly. Therefore, the research and development of the radial bogie is significantly important to improve the railway transport efficiency of china and to achieve the goal of heavy haul.This article describes the development and the status of the freight car bogie at home and abroad; on the basics of advanced, low power heavy haul bogie, this article introduces the development requirement, ideas of the bogie and determind that the radial bogie is the development direction. The articl optimized the structural parameters of the auxiliary frameworks radial bogie of the heavy haul and the simulation software anslysis is passed; the static strength and dynamic strength analysis is done for the important parts of auxiliary framework radial bogie, and the parameter is optimized by this way. The radial dynamic anslysis is done for auxiliary framework radial bogie open top car fixed with100t tub and the structural parameter is optimized repeatedly; the prototype trial is completed and the corresponding fatigue test is done for the key components. Every calculation and test tesults meet the design requirement.This article optimized the structural analysis, assessed the strength and dynamics, completed the design of the32.5t axle load auxiliary radial bogie, accumulated experiences for the big axle load radial bogie and achieved the breakthrough for the large axle load radial bogie research.
