Lobe pump belongs to a typical positive displacement rotary machine. It is also generally applied in many kinds of national economy fields. Including petrochemical industry, environmental protection industry, paper making, pharmaceutical industry and Ferrous Metallurgy. However, the solid-liquid two-phase flow contains a lot of particles and in most situations those particles may have an effect on the interior pump parts. The multi-phase flow is mixed flow which including two or more different phases. It is also more complicated than the single phase flow. For revealing its interior flow field, the solid-liquid two-phase flow is needed.This article is mainly focuses on how to use the fluid mechanics software FLUENT to analyze the transporting of solid-liquid two-phase flow. First, selecting the material of water-liquid and solid-liquid two-phase flow in FLUENT to simulate its variation of interior flow filed separately.Comparing and analyzing with the single phase flow and the solid-liquid two-phase flow of its distribution of pressure and velocity. Both the diameter and the concentration are prepared for the further experiments.The main work as follows:1.The research focus on the development of lobe pump and solid-liquid two-phase in the domestic and abroad researches were summarized.2. Import the simplified3D calculation model into software ICEM for grid division. After it, using the mesh smoothing to make the grid satisfies the requirement of subsequent calculations. Import grid file to FLUENT, selects the RNG k-e turbulence model, PISO algorithm and coupling implicit solver, pressure uses discreted scheme with PRESTO!, and the the rest uses the discrete method of second-order accuracy.3. The software AUTOCAD was used to get accurately involute profile and then import to the software PROE to transform to the three-dimensional model. In the last, using PROE to draw the parts of inlet,outlet and pump case. After meshing in the ICEM, importing the models into FLUENT. The numerical simulation of the water-liquid and solid-liquid two-phase flow were finished separately, and both of the results were compared and analyzed. 4. According to the result of numerical simulation. It obtain that with the variation of the diameter and concentration of the particles, there exists the change in interior shell and the two rotors surface. Higher concentration and bigger size the particles are, the more abrasion rotors and interior shell have. It also provides reference to further study on optimal design and the abrasion mechanism theory of the solid-liquid lobe pump.
