With the increasing degree of automation, sophistication and complexity of wind turbine, the failure rate and maintenance cost of the device is also increasing. The fault monitoring for wind turbine exists in complex working environment, much more monitoring points, maintenance difficulties and other problems. While traditional wired monitoring system has the disadvantage of wiring complexity, high cost and difficult maintenance and so on. For these situations, a wireless data acquisition system architecture based on ZigBee technology is proposed to monitor the status of wind turbine gearbox. The system can realize the real-time monitoring and acquisition for vibration and temperature signals in the sensitive parts of gearbox fault. The corresponding hardware interface and software program are designed in the thesis.The main contents are as follows:(1) The structure, classification, operating principle and situation of the wind turbine are introduced. At the same time it is very important to understand mechnism of vibration and the positions where the faults happen easily. The types, causes and corresponding characteristics of the gearbox fault signal are summarized. The key monitoring positions for gearbox are determined, as well as the appropriate vibration and temperature sensors.(2) In order to monitor wind gearbox actual situation, an aquisition system framework based on ZigBee wireless sensor network is proposed to collect vibration and temperature signal of turbine. The structure and some important modules of terminal nodes in the network are designed in detail. The wireless network protocol stack is discussed emphatically.(3) In order to meet the design requirements of condition monitoring and information collection, the hardware circuit of system and the communication interface are designed. According to the transmission flow direction of the collected vibration and temperature signals, many circuits are designed in turn. The circuits contains sensor circuits for collection of temperature and acceleration, hardware interface circuits for communication modules, ADC, data processing module, the serial interface circuit for the communication between the coordinator and the host, USB serial interface circuit, key circuit and so on. In addition, the specific wiring and the functions of the circuits are explained in detail. (4) In the IAR Embedded Workbench development platform, the ZigBee technology can build wireless networking. About the aspect of software, ZigBee2007network specifications are analyzed. The corresponding workflows of network node are designed, which contain coordinator, routers and terminal node. Software program is responsible for the development of data collection, sending and receiving, real-time monitoring for vibration and temperature signals. In the laboratory environment, the networking is build by the combination of hardware and software. The acquisition system successfully completes signal collection, transmission and the real-time display in PC host. It is proved that the system has the feasibility of practical application and development.
