For the past few years, investigating the seismic performance of structures is a critical question because of the frequently earthquake. People tend to use two methods to estimate the seismic performance of:pushover and incremental dynamic analysis (IDA). Pushover has is limitations as its initial performance."Dynamic" pushover has often been used to describe the methods of Incremental dynamic analysis. As this reason, IDA not only overcomes the drawback of pushover, but also has its advantages. IDA involving a series of nonlinear-time history analyses at increasing intensity measure of the same ground motion records. This method needs a large number of ground records and proper parameters. The intensity measure can be selected as the peak ground acceleration (PGA), peak ground velocity (PGV) or spectral acceleration (Sa). The estimation of structures’seismic performance using IDA methods combine with three projects is reported in this paper. First this paper introduces the process of ID A methods, and then on the basis of result, IDA curves are reached. By using the series of dynamic analysis, it offers the demand and capability in regions ranging from elasticity to plasticity even to dynamic instability. However, this paper points that IDA has its limitation because of the large dispersions in the results. In general, IDA is a promising method which can be used to examine the stability of structures under earthquake.
