In recent years, with the developments of economic growth and rapid flow of the population, the comprehensive rail transit hub became more large, while the pedestrian sign in the hub have great influence on operation efficiency. The design and setting method have been discussed in sufficient detail in the existing pedestrian sign concept, but it may still exist some shortages in systematicness, humanization and guidance efficiency for the pedestrian even if the pedestrian sign system was already in accordance with the design standards. How to evaluate the guidance efficiency of the sign quantitatively, improve these deficiencies, and base on these, how to reasonably correct the pedestrian speed which is the key parameter for evacuation analysis in comprehensive rail transit hub are the key questions that the article must solve.This paper analyzed the pedestrians flow lines and passenger wayfinding behavioral characteristics in comprehensive rail transit hub by taking Beijing South Railway Station as an example. Two major pedestrian flow lines in Beijing South Railway Station were determined by using passenger tracking survey method, and several important routing section were got by experimental statistics, these can be used for the study for guidance efficiency of pedestrian sign in the hub. Base on these, the definition of the guidance efficiency of pedestrian sign was defined in this paper so that the usability of the pedestrian signs can be evaluated objectively. Furthermore, the effect of the age and cultural degree of the pedestrian on guidance efficiency of pedestrian sign were quantified through the passenger wayfinding test doing in Beijing South Railway Station. And the effect of the size, setting position and the number of signs in the same location on guidance efficiency of pedestrian sign of a certain age and cultural degreeand people were quantified through the passenger wayfinding test doing in a university campus.Moreover, traditional fussy hierarchy comprehensive evaluation model was improved in this paper. By using regression coefficient method and testing data obtained from the above in place of expert evaluation method, and setting the guidance efficiency of pedestrian sign as the underlying index of the evaluation, the guidance efficiency of pedestrian sign evaluation model in the hub was built. Because of this, the evaluation of guidance efficiency of pedestrian sign became more complete and objective.Based on the results above, optimization of pedestrian speed in evacuation model in existing comprehensive rail transit hub which based on the pedestrian speed modified coefficient was proposed in this paper. The pedestrian speed modified coefficient can be calculated from guidance efficiency of pedestrian sign, therefore the pedestrian speed after optimized considered the pedestrian speed reduction which was caused by people observed the signs during the evacuation. And then, the optimization method was applied to the pedestrian evacuation model of high layer of Beijing South Railway Station, it can be known that pedestrian sign system had a significant impact on the pedestrian evacuation time in the early stage of evacuation. So the pedestrian sign system can directly influence on the pedestrian evacuation time in a certain extent, and it is very necessary to consider the impact of pedestrian sign to pedestrian speed during the evacuation simulation.
