Waste rubber and tailings are two kinds of heavy industry solid wastes. They not onlycause inconvenience and injury to people’s life and production, but also incur environmentpollution, taking up much land. Therefore, it is significant to use waste rubber and tailingscomprehensively and to change waste into valuables. Tailings Stabilized soil with wasterubber composed of waste rubber, tailings, water and cement is a kind of new light qualityfilling materials, with which the recycling of waste rubber and tailings is realized. Inaddition, it can reduce environmental pollution and the waste of resources. Therefore, experimental study on the mechanical characteristics of tailings stabilized soil with wasterubber is conducted. The following is the main points:Firstly, the mechanical characteristics of tailings stabilized soil with waste rubber isconducted. The consolidation-undrained triaxial shear test of stabilized soil with wasterubber and tailings is conducted, where cement content is7%,10%,15%and waste rubbercontent is5%,10%,20%and30%. The stress-strain relationship of stabilized soil, theinfluences of different confining pressures on strength and the failure mode of specimen isanalyzed. The following is the obtained main change rule: the maximum principal stress ofstabilized soil is increasing with confining pressure and cement content increasing, decreasing with waste rubber content increasing; shear type failure mode of specimen ischanged into tympany type. The consolidation-undrained triaxial shear test data ofstabilized soil is arranged and analyzed, and shearing strength index of stabilized soil underdifferent matchings is obtained. Meanwhile, the curing mechanism of stabilized soil isanalyzed.Secondly, the permeability of tailings stabilized soil with waste rubber is evaluated. The triaxial permeability test of tailing stabilized soil with waste rubber is conducted, where cement content is7%and10%, waste rubber content is5%,10%and20%,confining pressure is200kPa,300kPa and500kPa. The magnitude of permeabilitycoefficient is10-8m/s, which is an order of magnitude lower than cement soil under the same content condition. Therefore, tailings stabilized soil with waste rubber possessesbetter impermeability. Finally, the permeability test of stabilized soil acted by different axial stresses isconducted, where confining pressure is500kPa. The change rule of stabilized soilpermeability coefficient takes on a U-type trend with axial stress increasing whenconfining pressure is a specific value. This research has reference value to the theoreticalanalysis and engineering application of stabilized soil under complex stress state.
