While the excavator is at work, there is much energy losing, such as the throttling loss, the overflow loss, power loss along the way and power loss caused by the mismatch and so on. And the power loss caused by the mismatch assimilating power of the variable pump with output of the engine occupies a large proportion and could be greatly reduced. So the main content of this paper is the research and design of the power matching system of the engine and the variable pump. According to the feedback speed of the engine, we will adjust the capacity of the variable pump to make the absorbed power of the variable pump match with output of the engine. And this will also keep the engine speed at an optimum speed range. By doing this, we could improve the work efficiency of the excavator and reduce emissions of pollutants and make contributions to the environment protection. This paper describes the method for realizing the above content. I will use the hydraulic simulation software AMEsim to simulate and model for the engine and the variable pump and the whole hydraulic load sensing system. And after that, I will establish the control model in Simulink using the fuzzy PID control algorithm, and control the engine speed in the best economic point and reduce the fuel consumption. Import the AMEsim model to Simulink in the form of S-Function and do the co-simulation to debug the best speed curve. And then, use RTW to translate the Simulink control model into ST code automatically. Finally, download the ST code into the Codesys platform and experiment with the excavator.Experiments show that the proposed algorithms of power matching can avoid the overshooting problem when loads increase sharply, and then keep the rotate speed working in the economic zone.
