As the main way of natural ventilation, window plays an important role in maintaining living comfort and health. Good window design can reduce air conditioning energy consumption, carbon emissions, and make contribution to building energy efficiency and sustainable development. Therefore, making a research of window design has vital significance.The focus of this paper is the design style of high-rise residential builings in Beijing and Tianjin as well as its influence on indoor ventilation. First of all, this paper analyzes the development trend of our country’s sustainable design, pointing out the importance of "passive" design strategy of energy conservation. Second, takes a field research of36selected high-rise residential buildings in Beijing and Tianjin. Then summarizes11kinds of typical design style of high-rise residential buildings. Based on the research above, using FLUENT to simulate the indoor ventilation field of the11window design style and study the relationship between window design styles and indoor natural ventilation. Finally, based on the results of numerical simulation and combined with other design factors, put forward some advices for the optimization design of high-rise residential building.The main methods of this research include literature research, field research and numerical simulation. Literature research contains collecting, sorting and inducting related domestic literature and foreign literature. Field research contains two main parts:the overall investigation and the selected research. Firstly, take a through visit and take photos of high-rise residential building in Beijing and Tianjin, for a general understanding of the design style of windows. Then, select four typical residential community to apply careful field research. Based on the literature research and field research and FLUENT software package, this paper take a numerical simulation of indoor ventilation and the wind field distribution of the high-rise residential building in Beijing and Tianjin.This paper mainly analyzes the indoor wind field simulation results of different window design style, points out the various problems and characteristics of each ventilation condition. This paper also takes a vertical and horizontal comparison of the simulation results, summed up the influence of window style such as balcony, bay window, etc to the indoor ventilation condition.The paper also analyzed the evaluation standard of natural ventilation, and summarized the related codes and regulations of window design, combined with ergonomic factors, targetedly presented some optimization design suggestions of residential building.
