Landscape Planning And Design Of Xuchang Qingni River Based On The Theory Of Near-natural River Restoration

Rivers constitute the culture and civilization of the city, and effect the natural and sociallandscape of the city. River, as the unique natural ecosystem in the urban place, can provideseveral ecosystem services for human well beings. However, in the process of of urbanization,river natural ecosystem and river landscape have suffered huge damage. Near-natural riverrestoration and landscape design have been studied and well applied in the Erope and the USA.Recently, Chinese researchers have also realized the restoration of river ecosystem is a criticalissue in China, and began to pay attention to near-natural river landscape design, in order torestrain and restore the natural ecosystem and landscape of the river.The aim of this paper is to explore the near-natural theory and practical application ofriver landscape design, both in the Europe, the USA, and Japan, to summarize the mainprinciples and design methods of near-natural river landscape planning and design. Then, thispaper carried out the methodology in Qingni River landscape planning and design in Xuchang,in order toprovide reference for the restoration of river natural ecosystem and river landscape.Landscape planning and design of Qingni River included three main contents, that weretopography restoration, river buffer zone recovery, river open space redesign. Firstly, this paperstudied specific near-natural design methodology on river spatial shape recovery, riverlongitudinal and transverse restoration. Secondly, the method of restoration of the ecologicalfunction of the river were discussed. Finally, on the basis of the guarantee of ecological safetyof the river, the planning methods of river open space and traffic flow lines were summarized.Overall, this paper constructed the methodology and a theory system for near-natural riverrestoration, in order to provide the scientific advices for the river ecosystem and landscaperestoration in China, by combining the above theoretical studies and planning practices.
