Culter recurviceps,which is the special and precious cyprinid fish in HainanIsland and the Pearl River, have significant economic and ecological value, that notonly be enjoyed in hotel and restaurant but also show the ecological function toprevent fishes’s miniaturization in related water area. However, some negative factors,such as the constant severe pollution of water, the building of water conservancyengineering, overfishing, elcctrifying and boming fishes, lead to miniaturization andlow annualized phenomenon of culter recurviceps and its wild resources dried upquickly. Nothing happens, culter recurviceps will become extinct. Recently, there arenot comprehensive system culter recurviceps genetic research is carried out by fishgeneticists, leading to the lack of scientific basis to the related proposals andprotection work. In order to settle this problem, I determine211tails culterrecurviceps’ mitochondria ND2gene, analyzes the genetic diversity, genetic structureand assess the population historical dynamic, for the purpose to provide the scientificbasis for stoch enhancement, sustainable exploitation and preventing theminiaturization and low annualized phenomenon of related water area. The importantresults are as following:1. There is a trend to A (32.9%) and C (31.9%) rather than T(22.6%) and G(12.6%)and code more hydrophobic amino acid than hydrophilic amino acid.2. Culter recurviceps in both Hainan island and Pearl River have low geneticdiversity, showing high haplotype diversity (Hd=0.81) and low nucleotidediversity (Pi=0.0079). The higest genetic diversity of Culter recurviceps is comefrom QiongShan (Hd=0.59064,Pi=0.0099) but DanZhou show the lowest geneticdiversity(Hd=0.11111,Pi=0.0001).3. Obvious lineage structure and geographic differentiation of Culter recurviceps isformed in both Hainan Islang and Pearl River. The group from QiongZhong,QiongShan,HePu and BoBai get together as a independent branch. The groupfrom QiongShan and YueNan has the higher differentiation and far genetic relationship with other groups. The confidence coefficient is more than90%,meaning the subspecies will exist. Other groups get together as the other branch inthe molecular system evolutionary tree.4. Combining Tajima’s D and Fu’Fs neutrality test, nucleotide not matching analysis,haplotype diversity analysis, nucleotide diversity analysis, molecular systemevolutionaty tree analysis and ambiguous point distribution diagram analysis,shows that Culter recurviceps population may have undergone populationexpansion in the late Pleistocene.5. The group from HePu and YuNan has the high genetic differentiation, whichshould be protected independently as a protection management unit. Due to thethe hige genetic diversity of the groups came from QiongShan(Hd=0.59064,Pi=0.0099) and HengXian (Hd=0.93333,Pi=0.00775), they should be protectedpreferentially.
