Massicus raddei (Blessig) is a dangerous stem borer. The larvae damage in xylem chiefly, result in wind-break and withered. In recently year, its damage extent aggravated graduallyand endanger area extended constantly. It has been the most dangerous timber worm ofnatural forest area in northeast of China.Quercus mongolica is the main host of Massicus raddei (Blessig). It is a kind ofexcellent trees with perfect economic value. However, some popular forests of northeast localareas have suffered from Massicus raddei (Blessig). In order to study the fixed positionbetween Massicus raddei (Blessig) and its host, this experiment extract the volatiles indifferent eclosion period, diameter at breast height (DBH) and extent of injury of Quercusmongolica using solid phase microextraction (SPME) and adsorption-solvent elution. Thisexperiment analyzed the essential volatiles and quantitatively with GC-MS. Theelectroantennogram (EAG) is used to detect the physiological response of Quercus mongolicato plant volatiles, which explain the relationship between Quercus mongolica and the host, meanwhile providing theoretical and practical basis for developing effective ecologicalcontrol method. The analysis of volatile components of Quercus mongolica shows followings:①Thevolatile components in the peak time of eclosion is more.②There is a positive correlationbetween the volatile components and the DBH when the DBH is below28cm. There is anegative correlation between the volatile components and the DBH when the DBH is above28cm.③Volatile components in the damaged Quercus mongolica is more.④Cis-3-hexen-1-ol, cis-3-hexenyl acetate are general odor components.⑤The special odorcomponents by SPME indicate that, α-farnesene, trans-ocimene, methyl salicylate,trans-hex-3-en-1-ol,2,7-dimethylocta-2,6-dien-1-ol,3,7-dimethyl-2,6-octadienal and1000158-24-3have an attractive effect on Massicus raddei.2-ethylfuran have a repellenteffect on Massicus raddei. The special odor components by adsorption-solvent elutionindicate that,2-methyl-3-propyloxirane have an attractive effect on Massicus raddei.β-selinene, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate,(+)-longifolene,137706-80-0and95452-08-7have a repellent effect on Massicus raddei. The electroantennogram (EAG) responses of females and males of beetle to7kinds ofvolatiles (100μg/mL) were tested, including α-pinene, β-pinene, eugenol, methyleugenol, ethyl alcohol, ocimene, tetradecane. EAG analysis showed followings:①The antennaerespond is strong to α-pinene, β-pinene, ethyl alcohol and ocimene.②The antennae respondof the female is strong to α-pinene (100μg/mL). the antennae respond of the male is strong to α-pinene (100μg/mL), β-pinene (100μg/mL), ethyl alcohol (1000μg/mL) and ocimene(100μg/mL).③the reaction of male and female insects were of sexually dimorphic difference. The male play a vital role in the fixed position between Massicus raddei and its host.
