Study on natural regeneration of Castanopsis hystrix was conducted in its plantations and nearby Pinus massoniana plantations at Experimentsl Centre of Tropcal Forestry, CAF located at Pingxiang City, Guangxi, South China. Methods choice quadrat and transect.set14plots20mx30m in the Castanopsis hystrix plantation,set31plots20mx30m and6plots40mx40m in the pinus massoniana,set40plots20x30m plantation in three transect of the Castanopsis hystrix and pinus massoniana mosaic landscape area include Castanopsis hystrix forest. Data using analysis of variance, correlation analysis and spatial point pattern analysis. The results were shown as follows:(1)the regeneration density of the Castanopsis hystrix A.DC seedlings and young growths in Castanopsis hystrix A.DC plantation are higher than that of Pinus massoniana Lamb plantation. The result of ANOVA (analysis of variance) shows, The total Castanopsis hystrix A.DC regeneration density, as well as, the young growths and seedling regeneration density of Castanopsis hystrix A.DC plantation are significantly higher than that of Pinus massoniana Lamb plantation. There are significant differences between the regeneration frequency of Castanopsis hystrix A.DC in Castanopsis hystrix A.DC plantation and that in Pinus massoniana Lamb plantation. The regeneration frequency of Castanopsis hystrix A.DC mature plants, young growths and seedlings in Castanopsis hystrix A.DC plantation have reached100%, while that of Pinus massoniana Lamb plantation are obviously lower, the regeneration frequency of Castanopsis hystrix A.DC mature plants, young growths and seedlings are36%-64%,79%-92%and64%-71%, respectively. The regeneration density of Castanopsis hystrix A.DC young growths at middle slope is the highest, there is no significant differences between that of upper slope and lower slope. The regeneration density of Castanopsis hystrix A.DC young growths present as the follow order:middle slope> upper slope> lower slope. The regeneration density of Castanopsis hystrix A.DC seedlings present as the follow order:lower slope> middle slope> upper slope.(2) It can be told from the spatial pattern analysis, that each diameter level indices in the sample plot1,2and3present as follow:C>1, I>0, Ca>0, PAI>1, K>0. And the differences are significant or extremely significant after adopting t-testing. That means the distribution pattern of Castanopsis hystrix A.DC is aggregative distribution. All the indices in sample plot4present the aggregative distribution features. The differences between diameter level1and2is very evident through t-testing. All the indices of diameter3are null. The Castanopsis hystrix A.DC distribution tendency of diameter level1and2are aggregative distribution, and the distribution pattern of diameter level3is of random pattern. The differences among diameter level1and2are very obvious, while that of diameter level3are not significant through t-testing. The distribution pattern of diameter level1and3present as random distribution, whereas, that of diameter level2is aggregative distribution. The differences among diameter level1and2are of extremely significance, while that of diameter3is not that evident through t-testing of the Castanopsis hystrix A.DC regeneration density. There is a negative correlation between area of forest gap and the regeneration density, that means the area of forest gap has influences on the regeneration density of Castanopsis hystrix A.DC. The bigger the area of forest gap is the smaller the Castanopsis hystrix A.DC regeneration density is.(3) Pinus massoniana Lamb Forest Floor regeneration to Castanopsis hystrix A.DC density and Pinus massoniana Lamb density was positively correlated with the average diameter, average tree height was negatively correlated, but the correlation is not strong; Castanopsis hystrix A.DC Seed Dispersal maximum distance is about240m, correlation analysis showed that both were highly significant negative correlation, That means there is relation between the Castanopsis hystrix A.DC regeneration density and the distance from the mother Castanopsis hystrix A.DC forest, It can be told, the further it is away from the mother tree, the weaker the Castanopsis hystrix A.DC regeneration is. The paragenesis species in Pinus massoniana Lamb plantation was negative correlations between the regeneration density and the growth status of Castanopsis hystrix A.DC, as well as, the regeneration of Castanopsis hystrix A.DC immature plants, Description Pinus massoniana Lamb associated tree species on understory influential Castanopsis hystrix A.DC regeneration.
