Study On Aesthetic Value Of Scented Rosewood

In this paper, morphological, macroscopical, microscopical and ultra-microscopical structure features of scented rosewood (Dalbergia odorifera T. Chen) were systematically studied with the viewpoint of aesthetics application, the structural pictures of scented rosewood were analyzed based on the rules of formal beauty constitution, and the aesthetic elements were extracted from those pictures. Then, aesthetic patterns of scented rosewood structure were designed. Finally, these aesthetic elements and patterns were used in aesthetics application design. Main results of this study are as follows.(1) Ultra-microscopical internal structure characteristics of scented rosewood were systematically analyzed, and a large number of ultra-microscopical structure characteristics pictures were obtained, and the ultra-microscopical structure characteristics of wood rays, pores, axial parenchyma, pits, vestured pits and wood-fiber of scented rosewood were summarized. The achievements could enhance people’s understanding about the structure of scented rosewood.(2) Through this study, electron-microscopical structure of scented rosewood and wood aesthetics was linked together for the first time, the aesthetic value of ultra-microscopical structure features of scented rosewood were explored, the technique of wood aesthetics research in ultra-microscopic level was developed, and the contents of wood aesthetics research were enriched further.(3) In this study, the main aesthetic elements were extracted from wood structure of scented rosewood, and the aesthetic patterns with certain aesthetic value were re-created. In addition, taking the tree form and wood structural features as the basic material, wood aesthetics products of scented rosewood were developed through art design techniques, and these products could be used in all aspects of real life, such as the furniture, animation, fashion design, interior and exterior environmental design. The value of non-material properties of scented rosewood has been excavated effectively, and the research of wood aesthetics application has been pushed forward further through the present study.
