This study used split-plot design(6varieties,deputy district main area3density)at the ecological condition and production level of the experimental farm of Ningxia University to conduct the agronomic traits and yield of different maize varieties under the different density,the main results are as follows:1,The experimental results show that the plant height of different varieties range between257cm to339cm in density of4500plants*667m-2to6500plants*667m-2,the ear height ranging from121cm to161cm.With the increasing of the density,plant height was decreased,ear height increased with the density. Varieties had significant difference on plant height and densities had no significant change on plant height,densities and varieties had significant difference on ear height,but the interaction had no significant change on ear height.The study confirmed the concept of lodging that the high yield cultivation density leads to is not scientific.2,Leaf area index(LAI)showed a single-peak curve changes with the growth period,seedling to jointing stage increased fast,tasseling and silking achieved the maximum value,then decreased slowly.Leaf area index(LAI)curve is y=-97.881x2+1082.9x-1893.0(R2=0.9056)which reached the yield level above1200kg*667m-2in High-yield Cultivation of corn in Ningxia irrigation area,the suitable leaf area index for high yield potential is6.66.3,This study obtained varieties with high yield potential in Ningxia irrigation area under cultivation is Xianyu335and LB-5.To reach the production potential,LB-5in this study to obtain high yield planting density is4500plants*667m-2,Xianyu335can reach the high yield under the planting density of5500plants*667m-2and6500plants*667m-2.4,Xianyu335has the high potential yield under the density of4500plants*667m-2and6500plants*667m-2which the best of panicle traits as follows:spike length is20cm,ear diameter is5.7cm,bald tip is0cm,the grain number per spike is653,grain weight is289.63,hundred grain weight is45.89g.The high yield of Xianyu335is1278.74kg*667m-2.LB-5has the high potential yield under the density of6500plants*667m-2which the best of panicle traits as follows:The ear length of LB-5is18cm,ear diameter is5.5cm,bald tip is1.0cm,the grain number per spike was544,grain weight per spike is231.09,hundred grain weight was43.77g.With the conclusion of above we can see that large spike-type sparse conditions in high yield and high density cultivation conditions not conducive to high yield,while the panicle type suitable for planting varieties of high yield potential under the different Varieties and Densities of high yield Maize(1000-1200kg/667m2)in Yellow River irrigation area of NingXia. 5,The relative importance of each factors on yield in this study were as follows:the grain weight (P=4.623)>per spike grain number (P=2.9544)>ear length (P=1.337)>ear diameter (P=0.4866)>100-kernel weigh (P=-1.844)>panicle weight (P=-3.0593).
