As a major economic plant, cotton has become the important material beneficial to the national economy and people’s livelihood. Being thermophilic, cotton is prone to be harmed by the adverse outer condition, especially the cold injury, in the process of growing. Therefore, the improvement of chilling-resistance which is the key index for the cotton breeding concerning the quality and output of the cotton is worth being studied in order to reduce the cold injury at the stage of cotton seed. This research is aiming to analyze the index in regard to chilling-resistance of cotton seed and to provide theory basis for chilling-resistance of cotton seed by means of comparing cotton seeds of different days and of different cold acclimation. The research results are achieved as follow:(1)After the acclimation of different temperature and different days, all the chilling-resistance indexes of jin mian44are apparently higher than the other two of the3cotton varieties in the test (jin mian36and za jiao208, which shows that Jin mian44has the strongest chilling-resistance among the testing samples.(2)The analysis in different temperatures shows that all the chilling-resistance indexes of the germinating cotton seed acclimated at minus4degree are obviously higher than those at0degree and4degree, which indicates that minus4degree is the temperature which is most favorable to the promotion of the chilling-resistance of the cotton seed.(3)The analysis in different processing days shows that the germinating cotton seed in4to6days of cold acclimation has the strongest chilling-resistance.6-day is the maximum limit for the cold acclimation of the germinating cotton seed. It may lose the vitality or die if acclimated in the lower temperature more than6days. As a result,4-day is the appropriate time of the cold acclimation for the germinating cotton seed.
