Significant heterosis for rapeseed was well documented. Chemical hybridization agent isbecoming one of the most important ways to utilize heterosis in rapeseed. In thisinvestigation,a new kind of of sulfonylurea herbicides, Monosulfuron ester sodium(CHA1),invented by Professor Zhengming Li in Nankai University, was investigated for their malesterility-inducing ability and the effects on main agronomic traits in Brassica napus. Theadditive formulation was also optimized. The main results obtained are as follows:1.Male sterility-inducing ability and optimum concentration of CHA1CHA1has male sterility-inducing ability on Brassica napus L. cv Zhongshuang No.9.The optimum concentration of CHA1was0.1-0.2μg/ml, the optimal dose is10-15ml perplant, ratio of male sterile plant was100%.The plant height, siliques per plant and seednumber per plant of male sterile plants were not signicantly affected.2.Interaction between CHA1and genotypes in rapeseedThere exsits interaction between CHA1and different genotypes in rapeseed. Seventeenof29rapeseed accessions tested could reach90percent male sterile plants,and6could reach100%male sterile plants. After spraying of CHA1, plant height reduced, however, podnumbers per plant and seed numbers per plant increased.3.Investigation on inert ingredient of CHA1in rapeseedMale sterility-inducing ability of three different inert ingredient formulations in B. napuswas compared, and96%male sterile plants could be reached under formula three with0.2μg/ml CHA1.4.Male sterility-inducing ability of stem drip-treatment with CHA1in rapeseed.Male sterility-inducing ability of stem drip-treatment with CHA1in rapeseed wasexploited. The optimum concentration of CHA1was1.0μg/ml, and91.89%of male sterileplants and17days male sterile period could reach under this kind of treatment.
