Bacterial diseases are the major diseases threatening vegetable production. Once occurred,theywill bring wide range of damaged, spread with swift speed, and cause serious loss in vegetableproduction. Therefore, bacterial diseases are the key issues in vegetable diseases prevention.This studyidentified, the pathogenic bacteria of bacteria diseases occurred in major vegetable growing areas inChina, through morphology identification, pathogenicity identification, physiological and biochemicaltest, and molecular biological method; defined the pathogenic bacteria of33hosts bacteria diseases;discovered4species of newly recorded host diseases and3kinds of domestically severe harmfuldiseases.1. The vegetable bacterial diseases were investigated and collected in main vegetable growingregions in20provinces, including Hebei, Liaoning, Henan, Shandong, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia,Hubei, Hunan, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, Hainan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Xinjiang,Tibet and Beijing. Through these wide range investigation, we collected about172bacteria diseasesamples involving33host in7families, seperated a total of334bacterial strains, and identified11species from6genera, including Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris, Xanthomonas campetris pv.vesicatoria, Pseudomonas syringae pv. lachrymans, Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato, Pseudomonascichorii, Erwinia persicinus, Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum, Pectobacteriumcarotovorum subsp. brasiliense, Ralstonia solanacearum, Clavibater michiganensis subsp.michiganensis, Acidovorax citrulli.2. Four newly recorded host diseases were identified by Biolog microorganism automaticidentification system, which combined morphological, physiological and biochemical, and molecularbiological methods. Of them Pseudomonas cichorii caused towel gourd bacterial leaf spot, Erwiniapersicina caused squash bacterial leaf spot, Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. brasiliense causedcucumber bacterial soft rot.3. Through extensive disease survey combined with molecular biological identification, we found3species pathogenic bacteria, which would cause severe domestic diseases. They are Pseudomonassyringae pv. lachrymans causing cucumber leaf spot, Ralstonia solanacearum causing tomato bacterialwilt and Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum causing bacterial soft rot of CruciferousVegetable.This paper systematically studied the kinds of bacterial diseases occurred in vegetable productionof China, and types of pathogenic bacteria. The research results have provided basis for correctdiagnosis for vegetable bacterial diseases, and at the same time, supply references for comprehensivecontrol of diseases and screening of disease resistant varieties and resources.
