In the field experiment,2planting row spacing mode of sugarcane, viz., conventional space and wide-narrow row space, were experimented to sugarcane, pumpkin and melon intercropping. The effects of different interplant modes on the growth, yields and qualities of sugarcane, pumpkin and melon were studied. The photosynthetic gas exchange parameters were analyzed in the field. And the change of microbial populations in soil before and after intercropping was also investigated. The main results as follows:1. The yield and quality of sugarcane reduced in the ratoon sugarcane after intercropping pumpkin. On the contrary for the intercropping melon, the yield and quality of sugarcane increased, and the sugarcane per unit area output and economic benefits improved; Compared with the wide-narrow row space, the yield and quality of pumpkins and melon increased in the conventional space. And the yields and qualities of sugarcane and melon improved in the conventional space.2. The soil total nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, effective constants of metal elements and trace metal elements content and soil PH increased significantly in sugarcane intercropping with pumpkin and melon. The numbers of soil bacteria, nitrifying bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes and nitrobacteria also increased. The biological diversity of sugarcane soil increased, which would improve soil and benefit to the growth of soil.3. The soil exposed area reduced in sugarcane seedling stage after sugarcane intercropping with pumpkin and melon. Sugarcane groups of light, temperature and humidity, CO2concentration were improved effectively. It would be benefit to the growth of sugar cane, pumpkin, melon growth and photosynthetic product accumulating. The photosynthesis ruduced in the ratoon sugarcane seedling stage, it was higher in the conventional space sugarcane intercroping pumpkin and melon than in the wide-narrow row space. In the sugarcane jointing stage, the photosynthetic rate of sugarcane was higher in the intercroping treatment than no-intercroping sugarcane after pumpkin melon harvesting. And the photosynthetic rate of conventional spacing sugarcane was also higher than wide-narrow row space.4. The effects varied in different sowing dates and transplanting of different kinds of melon between ratoon and new planting sugarcane intercropping. In conclusion, sugarcane conventional spacing intercropping was better than wide-narrow row spacing intercropping with the best environment factors for example soil, nutrients, light, temperature, moisture, relative humidity. The interaction effects on tow plant were showed not only in symbiosis period, but also on the effects of proceding crop on succession crop.
