This thesis gives systematic studies on origins and distribution、timber name identification、macro aesthetic and application according to the timber name identification results of994buried and carbonized wood samples collected from south China, and with expedition on Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan,Sichuan and the other regions of high incidence, and with the aid of related literature. The results show as follows:1. Distribution of buried and carbonized wood:(1) Mainly distributed in the southwest, South China, East China, central China.(2) River basins are mainly distributed in Yuan Shui basin of Huaihua in Hunan, Xiang Jiang basin of Zhuzhou, Min Jiang basin in Sichuan, Jin Sha Jiang basin in boundary of Sichuan and Yunnan, ZhuJiang basin, Anning River basin.2. Origins of buried and carbonized wood:Made by trees those were buried into ancient river bed or impacted platform and the other low grand areas by forces, such as geological disaster, and carbonized naturally.3. Species characteristics of buried and carbonized wood:(1) There are more species with aroma or strong corrosion and insect resistance or high air-dry density;(2) The aesthetic elements of refining and mining can be applied to the field of decorative design.4. Identification characteristics of buried and carbonized wood:(1) The organizational structure had not changed, but the cell cavity was infiltrated by a lot of inorganic sediments;(2) Carbonization degree is more serious, the color is deeper.(3) The appearance of buried and carbonized wood in the bottom sediment of river was with cecil strands, but in the gully slope or impacted platform was without defect and omission.5. Macro aesthetic and its application of buried and carbonized wood:(1) It is the best material of sculpture and crafts;(2) It contains aesthetic value with the natural form, smooth texture, dignified color.(3) The aesthetic elements of refining and mining, can be applied to the field of decorative design.
