In recent years, with economic and social development, ecological and environmental problems has been more attention, desertification has become a national and even global common concern to ecological and environmental problems. The Great Wall in Northern areas along the rapid economic development, land desertification issues also greatly affect the production life of the people. Of course, the study of land desertification of the region is also a lot, This article in the current situation of desertification on the basis of scientific assessment, analysis of the causes of desertification, and the corresponding governance measures.In this paper, areas along the Great Wall in northern Shaanxi study, application of3S technology and related methods, the use of remote sensing data from1990to2009years of desertification in the region for analysis and research. And try to provide the scientific basis for sandy desertification control of the northern region along the Great Wall. The main results are as follows:1. Aeolian landforms and vegetation development degree of coverage as the main indicators of desertification, remote sensing is feasible and can effectively distinguish between the type and level of desertification. This classification not only reflects the process of desertification, changes in micro-topography and vegetation, but also in remote sensing images is precise to distinguish.2. From1990to2009years, study area overall desertification in decreasesing, but from2000to2009years decreasesth than from1990to2000years is larger. From the different land use type change in perspective, forest desertification area grassland desertification area decreasesed the most; Desertification area changing from different degree view, with moderate desertification area decreasesed the most; Desertification area changing from different counties to see, six area are tending to the decreasesing trend, Yu Yang and Shen Mu’s decreasesth is larger, Fu Gu decreasesth is the smallest. Yu Yang District average annual land desertification lowest variability, the highest in Fu Gu County. In2009, the current situation, desertification area of sandy desertification in Yu Yang is the largest, Heng Shan is the smallest. Desertification degree with mild and moderate primarily.3. Desertification process but in the fragile ecosystems, human reason and the result of both natural causes. The study found the impact of human activities of socio-economic factors on desertification change is much higher than the natural factors, PCA results in line with expectations envisaged.4. View of the above study, put forward along the Great Wall in northern Shaanxi desefica-tion countermeasures:Natural vegetation restoration and reconstruction; control population growth and improve population quality; optimize the industrial structure, establish long-term ecological compensation and oversight mechanisms.
