The Status, Problems And Countermeasures Of Potato Production In Northern Shaanxi

In northern part (including Yulin, Yan’an, etc.) of Shaanxi province, due to the specialnature, climate, economic, social, and historical and other reasons, the potato has beencultivated for a long time. The potato production occupies an important position in the localagricultural industry. In recent years, the potato acreage of approximately stabilized at about260,000hectares. However, affected by social, economic, scientific and technologicalprogress and extension, and other factors, the overall area of potato production andindustrialization level is not high.The main problem facing the potato production in northern Shaanxi is the harsh naturalconditions, planting varieties is relatively simple, relatively backward cultivation techniques,the promotion of virus-free cultivation not enough, pest and disease problem are moreprominent, post-harvest storage technology needs further refinement and implementation etc.even as Continuous crop barriers exist. These problems affect the Northern Shaanxi potatoyield, quality, effectiveness, limiting the sustained development of the industry.Through the survey, summarize, sum, etc., put forward relevant countermeasures tosolve the technical problems of potato production in northern Shaanxi region, including theconstruction of terraces, strengthening cultivars introductions and screening, promotionvirus-free potato, mulching planting techniques, to promote and strengthen post-harveststorage technology and so on. The purpose is to comprehensively improve the overall potatoproduction technology in Northern Shaanxi.The significance of this study is that through research, access to information, inductiveanalysis, the countermeasures were proposed to solve the problem of potato production inNorthern Shaanxi. These countermeasures expected to provide a reference for potatoproduction in Northern Shaanxi.
