Lignin is a kind of aromatic polymer which is amorphous, its molecular structure containing oxygen-benzene-propanol or derivative structural unit, it is widely present in plants。The main part of the plant skeleton is build up of lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose. In recent years, with the dwindling of oil and gas resources, people are starting to pay more attention on the research and application of lignin. Lignin have some impact on wheat stem strength and lodging resistance, but related studies come to different conclusions. Therefore, the determination of lignin content and stem strength have important significance on lodging resistance research.This paper studies120varieties of wheat that were randomly selected from the original materials, planted in the dayang experimental field of Anhui Agricultural University. KLASON method, Thrust method were used to survey and evaluate lignin content and stem strength. Through measuring and analyzing these120wheat’s data about lignin content and stem strength, We can draw the main following conclusions:(1)The average of lignin content and stem strength respectively is30.28%1.55N,variation range respectively is18.2%-49.37%、0.55N-3.38N, standard deviation respectively is5.6、0.52, coefficient of variation respectively is0.18%、0.34%.(2) The lignin content and stem strength of Jiangsu and Sichuan are significantly higher than other regions. The lignin content and stem strength of Henan are in the intermediate position. The lignin content of wheat in Anhui is middle, the stem strength is lowest. The lignin content and stem strength of Hebei are in the final position.(3) In terms of most varieties of wheat, there is no relationship between lignin content and stem strength, but there are still exceptions.(4)We select32varieties of wheat whose lodging resistance have big difference, and there is good correlation between Lignin and stem strength to analyze, finding that difference in varieties have impact on wheat lodging. Cluster analysis applying the most long-range test was conducted on the32varieties of wheat, and the result was divided into six types.
