Solar steam drying technology is using solar energy changing the water into steam,using steam heating the air into the air, using hot air drying the agricultural products. Solarsteam hot-air dryer is the equipment of solar steam drying system, composed of a solarheat collector and a belt dryer. With the use of oil, coal, natural gas and othernon-renewable resources, the energy crisis and environment problem has also been placedin front of us. In this case, the development and utilization of solar energy technology isimperative. Solar steam hot-air dryer using solar energy for drying and processing ofagricultural products can achieve both economical and clean purpose. Therefore, this papercarried out the following research:(1) Completed the structure design of solar steam hot-air dryer, confirmed thestructure parameters and dimensions of the key parts. Based on the relevant theoreticalknowledge of solar steam drying technology, analyzed the working principle of solar steamhot-air dryer, calculated process parameters of the dryer, established the size relationshipbetween solar collector and belt dryer, established the whole structure of the dryer design,analyzed structure parameters, established key parts’structure size.(2) Completed the virtual design of solar steam hot-air dryer. Based on thethree-dimensional software CATIA and the programming software VB, established theparts library of the dryer’s key parts, established computer aided design software of keyparts, completed3D entity model of the dryer.(3) Developed the solar steam hot-air dryer. According to the laboratory field,designed the drying device, according to local illumination conditions and dryingrequirements, designed the collector system, determined the relevant parameters,completed the2D engineering drawing of the prototype, developed prototype forlaboratory work.(4) Conducted the experimental design of solar steam hot-air dryer. Solar steamdrying technology as the theoretical basis, built the overall scheme of using the developedprototype for drying experiment of potato chips, after repeated experiments on potato chips,through the analysis of the experiment results, validated the good drying effect of the solarsteam hot-air dryer.
