This paper researched on three tobacco varieties which contact YY87(Yunyan87), K326and NC297,planting in the main production area of Hunan tobacco leaves with great aroma. Study of the agronomic traits indicators such as the growth period, plant height, leaf number and leaf area and so on. Comparing the content of plastid pigment in the different growth stages and leaf position of the same variety, and the different varieties at the same time. Setting different nitrogen gradient fertilizer to research on the impact of plastid pigment content in different nitrogen application rate.Main results are as follows:1. The plastid pigment content of YY87is significantly higher than K326and NC297in each growth stage, K326and NC297have no significant difference. There is existing significant correlation between leaf area and total chlorophyll content in three varieties, it can establish regression equation. In the early growth period of tobacco, the total chlorophyll content increased with the increase of leaf area, but when the leaves fixed length, the total chlorophyll content decreased with the mature of tobacco leaves.2. The plastid pigment content of the same tobacco in different periods are showing increase, slow down and finally linear decrease. The ratio of chl.a and chl.b is on the decline in the whole tobacco growth development period, the ratio of total chlorophyll and carotenoid is increasing in the early period, falling in the late days, the chlorophyll content is the main factor to controll the ratio.3.The plastid pigment content of YY87in different leaf position is:upper leaves>middle leaves>lower leaves, The chl.a/chl.b and the total chlorophyll/carotenoid showing that:upper leaves>middle leaves>lower leaves. The chlorophyll content and SPAD readings of the same variety in each growth period expressed very significant correlation, this rule also existed in different leaf position of the same variety.4. With the increase of the N application, the tobacco growth period delayed, the plastid pigment content increase obviously, the plastid pigment content in three levels expressed:N3>N2>Nl. N3was the highest in the content of plastid pigment, but continue to increase in N application will or not led to increase the content of plastid pigment remains to further research. The chl.a/chl.b and the total chlorophyll/carotenoid showing that:N3>N2>N1.5.The growth period of YY87is longer than K326and NC297, All leaves of K326are first to mature, YY87is the last. The growth vigor presented the rule is slow-fast- slow in the three varieties, plant height is shown as:YY87> K326> NC297after topping. Numbers of leaves of three varieties were similar in each growth period, the last leaf number is almost20. The leaf area comparison of three varieties showing that in the stages of tobacco growth, YY87’s leaf area is bigger than K326and NC297, leaf area difference between K326and NC297is not often.
