Radix tetrastigme is Tetrastigrna hemsleyanum Diels et Gilg in Vitaceae family, whose root systems or the whole plant are commonly used Tradittional Chinese Medicine. It mainly distributed some regions in southern provinces of Yangtze river. Radix tetrastigme can be divided into two medicinal varieties of blue and purple types, which has many functions such as heat clearing and detoxicating, active blood circulation and dispelling wind, antitumor, antiviral, analgesia and anti-inflammation and protecting liver etc. In recent years, due to various factors, the wild germplasm resources of raw medicinal plant of Radix tetrastigme, Tetrastigrna hemsleyanum Diels et Gilg, decreased dramatically, even to the endangered. Therefore, the evaluation and protection and utilization wild germplasm resources of raw medicinal plant is particularly important and urgent. In this paper, based on specimens studies, field investigation and related data analysis, the current situations of the raw medical plants used for germplasm resources of Tetrastigrna hemsleyanum Diels et Gilg were comprehensively assessed and analysed. The results showed that the most obvious advantage of germplasm resources of Tetrastigrna hemsleyanum Diels et Gilg was from Zhejiang province, followed by Jiangsu and Jiangxi provinces, while the germplasm resources from Hubei province got the lowest comprehensive evaluation scores in the assessment of thirteen provinces. In addition, there were obvious advantages for some parameters of the germplasm resources of Tetrastigrna hemsleyanum Diels et Gilg from Tibet, Sichuan and Chongqing, such as cold hardiness, drought resistance, heat resistance. Based on the germplasm resources evaluation results, some corresponding protection and utilization strategies were put forward in this paper, and it had laid a certain foundation for the the genetic breeding of Tetrastigrna hemsleyanum Diels et Gilg of in the future.
