A permanent plot of100m×100m of close-to-nature Phyllostachys edulis stand was established toreveal its dynamic characteristics of spatial structure and to provide theoretical basis forimplementation of its sustainable management in Tianmu Mountain National Nature Reserve,Zhejiang province. Up to now, the permanent plot has been annually surveyed for4times. Eachbamboo tree was tallied and its coordinates(X, Y, Z) were measured by total station. A subplot of40m×40m of bamboo shoot was established and surveyed within the permanent plot. Two spatialstructure indices including age mingling based on neighborhood spatial permutation(Mp) andcompetition potential(CP) were proposed to analyze dynamic characteristics of adult bamboo spatialstructure combined with aggregation index. In addition, a new competition index CIBS andaggregation index were used to analyze dynamic features of shoot-young bamboo spatial structure.Data were treated and analyzed through compiling analysis software of moso bamboo spatial structure. The results show that (1) shoot emergence and degradation both are clustering distributions, whilesurvival shoot was uniform distribution, and their aggregations fluctuate obviously at first and thentrend to stable;(2) a competition dynamic characteristic of survival shoot is weak-strong-weak alongwith the increasing of shoot emergence days;(3) current annual survival adult bamboo is clusteringdistribution generally, and its aggregation is low in on-year but high in off-year;(4) competitionpotential and age mingling of current annual survival adult bamboo are linear functions and bothsignificantly increase along with the increasing of survey-year;(5) the object bamboo number wavyincreases along with the increasing of age mingling, and its sequence arrangement is significantlyhigher than that of its interleaving in pairing spatial structure unit body;(6) aggregation andcompetition potential of annual live adult bamboo both are stable in on-year but great variation inoff-year;(7) age mingling of annual live adult bamboo increases along with the increasing ofsurvey-year.
