Vegetation is one of the most important parts of landscape and terrestrial ecosystems. The research of relationship between vegetation and environment has become a important field in ecology. Topographical factor has the largest effect on plant community structure. This reseach obtain micro-landforms data and large-scale spatial distribution data of vegetation through3S and modern measurements. Based on it, the research explores the relationship between distribution pattern of vegetation and topography, enriches the research content provides background information for the study area.Choosing Maodeng pasture and Inner Mongolia University Leymus plot in Xilinhot as study area. The research produced vegetation map based on field survey and satellite image. Then it obtained DEM, slope and aspect data through RTK and total station. The research explored the influence of micro-landforms on distribution of plant communities. Main results from the study are outlined below.1, Through field surveys, the research got micro-landforms data, and generated DEM of the study area. Then it made vegetation maps of Maodeng pasture and Inner Mongolia University Leymus plot by using ZY3satellite image.2. Inner Mongolia University Leymus plot have flat terrain and gentle slope. Most slopes are less than2degrees,and little slopes are more than5degrees. Aspect is mostly concentrated in the southeast, southwest and south slopes. There are only9different Vegetation types in Inner Mongolia University Leymus plot.94.15%of the total area is Leymus chinensis steppe and S. krylovii stepp. L.chinensis+S.krylovii is the largest community in plot(17.31%of the total area), mainly locate in flat, micro slope and gentle slope. S.krylovii+C.squarrosa is also have large area(17.9%of the total area) and locate in gentle slope and moderately slope.Vegetation types in Maodeng pasture are complex. Leymus chinensis steppe located in the west and north of study area. S. grandis steppe located in the southwest of study area. S. krylovii steppe located in the east and southeast of study area. There are large areas of A. splendens located in the middle of study area.3. Vegetation types in Maodeng pasture are relative complex, With the slope increase, the number of vegetation communities decrease. Major formation-types are Leymus chinensis steppe, S. grandis steppe and S. krylovii steppe. The three major formation-types together accounted for85.42%of the total area, and they all distributed in micro slope, gentle slope and moderately slope. They occupy different slope aspect. C.squarrosa+A. Cristatum community accounted for0.23%of the total area. It mainly located in flat, micro slope and gentle slope and distributed in east, southeast and south slopes. C. microphylia thicketization-steppe accounted for4.28%of the total area.It grown at a higher ground and steep slope, mainly located in south and southeast slopes. A. splendens meadow mainly distributed in bottom wetland, located in micro slope and gentle slope. It has large area as7.82%of the total area.
