A comparative study on shell morphometric traits of three kinds of mussels in Shengsiaquaculture waters was done by using multivariate statistical methods.112cohortindividuals of more than two-year-old Mytilus coruscus,112cohort individuals of morethan one-year-old M. edulis and112individuals “hybrid mussel” which mix in the breedingof the raft frame were randomly sampled from Shengsi aquaculture waters.1.Comparative analysis of the morphological parameters:(1)The externalmorphological characteristics of “hybrid mussel” between M. coruscus and M. edulis, morelike M. edulis;(2)Shell length between shell height, shell width, shell weight of “hybridmussel” there was an obvious power function relationship, M. coruscus and M. edulis shelllength between shell height, shell width, shell weight correlation was not strong.2.Comparation of the effect of morphological traits on shell weight:(1)For these threekinds of mussels, most of the correlation coefficient between the morphological traits andshell weight were reached extremely significant level(P<0.01);(2)The path analysis showedthat M. coruscus shell weight main traits decided to OC(apex of shell to shell after theapogee of linear distance), SW(shell width) and SH(shell height), M. edulis for OC and SW,“hybrid mussel” as SL(shell length), OA(shell roof to ligament at the end of the straight linedistance) and SH.3.Discriminant analysis, cluster analysis and factor analysis were used for revealingthe phenotypic traits:(1)The Euclidean distance between M. coruscus and M. edulis, M.coruscus and “hybrid mussel”, M. edulis and “hybrid mussel” was0.160,0.452and0.452;(2)The accumulative variance percentage of the first three principal components was82.93%, and the eigenvalues of these factors were larger than1. M. coruscus and “hybridmussel” could be clearly separated each other by principal components1.(3)Indiscriminant analysis,6relative parameters were selected from9relative parameters toestablish discriminant functions of the three kinds of mussels. Both discriminant accuracyand synthetic discriminant accuracy were96.4%.
