Iris Siberian evergreen aquatic herb, belonging to iris iris genera. It has strong ability to against cold. Its flower is beautiful, and its leaves not prolapse. What’s more, it is evergreen. These make it become an excellent choice for water landscape beautification as alternative materials. In addition, China owns vast territory in which the natural environment have the large difference. Natural environment has very important influence on plant growth. The low temperature stress is one of the natural disasters in the growth of plant. Study the effect of low temperature stress on the Siberian iris, which is beneficial to explain the Iris siberian owning resistance to freezing mechanism and which provides theoretical basis for the Iris Siberian cold protection. This study use the Iris siberian for materials by measuring laid in the antioxidants, antioxidant enzyme activity, as well as the availability of nitric oxide (NO) molecular signals to explore the pathogenesis of evergreen herbs of frozen resistance adaptation mechanism. In addition, the study observe the change of water quality when Iris siberian grow up in the aquaculture wastewater, to explore the Iris siberian in the specific mechanism in the ecological water purification. Research shows that:(a)The effect low temperature on Iris Siberian1. Under the variable temperature, the green fluorescent of leaves of Iris siberian shows that when plants suffer from low temperature damage, the photosynthesis get damaged.2. According to the temperature began to decline, the Iris siberian leaves of ascorbic acid (AsA), proline (Pro), carotenoid (Car) content increased, and reached the maximum in winter. After the winter temperatures began to pick up, these antioxidants content began to decline. This suggests that the external environment temperature induced the plant to produce a series of freezing resistance mechanism. The change of antioxidants content, which indicates that the plant through the antioxidants in the body by scavenging harmful free radicals to protect itself from the cold.3. Along with the temperature gradient descent, the superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and peroxidase (POD) of the Iris siberian leaves is active increased significantly in gradient. The experiment results show that the external environment temperature drop have a closely contact with antioxidant enzyme activity in plant. This shows that the when Iris siberian in cold environment itself can be determined their different levels of resistance according to the degree of external stress. 4. Along with the temperature gradient descent, the NO content of Iris siberian leaves increased significantly, showing the cold-resistant of NO in plant antifreezing mechanism plays a role which can not be ignored.(b) The sewage purification effect of Siberian irisTo set up the experimental variables of Iris siberian plant’s numbers, the study by measuring the content of total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP) and chemical oxygen demand (COD), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), determine the quality of Iris siberian in polluted water purification. Detecting the water quality index from excessive content close to the water quality standard, experiment shows the Iris siberian can never be ignored in terms of ecological water purification with potential. To sum up, the Iris siberian own antioxidants, antioxidant enzyme system and NO signal molecules is its important mechanism to resist low temperature stress and to improve its cold resistance ability. At the same time, the research shows that the Iris siberian own absorption of N, P and other elements is the important mechanism of purifying polluted water.
