The Characteristics Of Reproductive Biology Of Salix Matsudana Koidz

Salix matsudana Koidz is common garden and ecological restoration tree in the north ofChina with the features of fast growth, strong adaptability, wide distribution area. The study onSalix matsudana Koidz has focused primarily on stress physiology, phytoremediation, thebreeding measures. The research on reproductive biology is still neglected, which restricted thebreeding work of Salix matsudana Koidz.This article studied the process of flower bud differentiation of Salix matsudana Koidz,the developmental process of inflorescence, morphology of pollen and the pollen vitality,provided reference for the cross breeding of Salix matsudana Koidz.1. Through the paraffin section, studied the law of flower bud differentiation, and recordedthe external morphological changes of flower bud from june to next march. The differentialprocesses of female bud and male bud were determined, and established the relevance betweenexternal morphology and internal differentiation process.2. By watching the progress of the bloom of female inflorescence and male inflorescence,we found that the florescence of female flower and male flower were same.3. The morphology of pollen was observed by scanning electron microscopy, the shape ofpollen is prolate, the average size was29.52×15.39um, tricolporate, and the type of granularon pollen surface is reticular. In this study, the pollen vitalities of Salix matsudana Koidz,which were conserved under four different conditions, were determined. The results indicatedthat the best condition of pollen storage is freeze drying, and pollen vitality is negativelycorrelated with storage time.
