Objective:To investigate the method and effect of endovascular treatment for ilio-femoral venous post-thrombotic syndrome.Method:The clinical data of twenty-three patients(twenty-three limbs) underwent endovascular treatment for ilio-femoral venous post-thrombotic syndrome in the first affiliated hospital of Fujian Medical University from January2008to October2012were retrospectively analyzed. Patency rate, clinical symptoms and signs, limbs’girth were recorded in their follow-up.Results:All patients were successfully treated with angioplasty and stent placement. Thirty-four stents were implanted. Eleven patients were treated with two stents because of the extensive lesion. The ilio-femoral venous were patent after the placement of the stent. And no severe perioperative complications occurred. All patients were followed up for a mean time of10.6months(range,6-18months). The chronic ulcer of two patients was healed within two weeks, and two healed within one month. The patency rate of the affected limb at six months after treatment was73.9%.The limbs’girth difference of the healthy limb and the affected decreased1.76±0.81cm at the level of15cm above the knee joint, and2.46±0.77cm at the level of15cm under the knee joint(both P<0.01). And Villalta score decreased5.09±1.86(P<0.01).Conclusion:Ilio-femoral venous stenting provides a safe and effective option for the treatment of post-thrombotic syndrome. Acceptable patency rates can be expected through short-term follow-up.
