Objectives:(1)To reform the teaching method in the course of nursingresearch, exploring a way to develop critical thinking ability ofundergraduate nursing students.(2)To evaluate the effect of teachingmethod reformation.Methods: The study was based on Patricis Hynes and Jocelyn Bennett’scritical thinking theory.Research methodologies included literaturereview,Randomized controlled trial, questionnaire methods,etc.Firstly,the essay explores the critical thinking ability educational situationand advancing directions, putting forward reform plan combining thecharacteristics of nursing research. To apply case teaching method inthe theory course and discovery learning method in the experimentalcourse,298undergraduate nursing students were divided into theexperimental and control groups. The experimental group receivedteaching reformation and the control group received traditional teachingin the course of nursing research. The effect of the reformation wasevaluated after the course and a conclusion can be drawn.Result:(1)the experimental group had a significant higher scoreof critical thinking than the control group (P<0.05).(2)The experimentalgroup had a significant higher score in the examination than the controlgroup (P<0.05),and the good rate of the experimental group was higherthan the control group.(3)Teaching method reformation received a goodreview.Conclusion:(1) Case teaching and discovery learning method usedin the course of Nursing Research is helpful for developing criticalthinking ability of undergraduate nursing students.(2) Case teachingand discovery learning method used in the course of Nursing Research isuseful for improved understanding and acquisition of knowledge,self-regulated learning capability and researching ability, profession ethics.(3)It is a systematic engineering to develop students’ criticalthinking ability. The research lays a practical foundation for developingthe ability.
