Objective:The PAD class teaching model in the teaching of community nursing was designed to explore the application in teaching practice,evaluate the teaching effect and provide new ideas for deepening nursing teaching reform.Method:95 nursing students of a university were randomly selected as the research objects,they were divided into two groups,one was the experimental group and the other was the control group.The experimental group adopted PAD class teaching model as the teaching method and the control group used the traditional teaching model for teaching.Before teaching intervention,investigating the general situations,self-learning ability,and critical thinking ability of the two groups.Ensure that the general situations,self-learning ability,critical thinking ability,teaching materials,teachers,teaching time and teaching places are same in two groups,and then to conduct the teaching intervention.After teaching intervention,comparing the final grade,self-learning ability and critical thinking ability of the two groups,giving out the evaluation table of the PAD class teaching model to experimental group students,interviewing with practical teachers and some of the students,and then evaluating the effect of PAD class teaching model which using the community nursing course.Result:1.After teaching intervention,the survey of questionnaire showed total scores of the self-learning ability between two groups have statistical significance(t=-3.477,p=0.001).In three dimensions,the scores of each dimension were also statistically significant(p<0.05),of which self-management ability(t=-2.395,p=0.019),information ability(t=-2.794,p=0.006),and ability to learn and cooperate(t=-2.417,p=0.018).2.The survey of questionnaire showed that total scores of critical thinking ability between two groups have statistical significance(t=-2.912,p=0.004).In seven dimensions,five dimensions have significance(p<0.05),namely the search for truth(t=-2.386,p=0.020),the open mind(t=-2.257,p=0.026),analysis ability(t=-2.644,p=0.010),self-confidence of critical thinking(rank sum test z=-2.332,p=0.020)and curiosity(rank sum test z=-2.412,p=0.016);two parts have no significance: cognitive maturity(t=-1.043,p=0.299)and systematization(rank sum test z=-0.608,p=0.543).3.The total theoretical scores between two groups have statistical significance(t=-3.362,p=0.001).4.The evaluation table of PAD class model showed the students of experimental group have great satisfaction than control group.5.Qualitative interview results showed that the nursing students in the experimental group are satisfied with the PAD class,the evaluation of practical teachers to experimental group can be better than control group.Conclusion: 1.This result showed that the implementation of PAD class teaching model in community nursing can improve self-learning ability and critical thinking ability.2.PAD class teaching model can provide the satisfaction degree in nursing students.3.PAD class teaching model makes the community nursing a systematic transformation from “teaching first” to “learning based”,PAD class teaching model opens the new path to nursing reform of nursing course.
