porpuse:Piolt study of the difference of visual function among the patients in a same pre-surgery visual sight with different opacity degrees that determined by IOLMaser.Design:Cohort study.Participants:Collected the clinic data of86cataract patients (91eyes) from the Ophthalmology and Optometry Center in the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University during January to June in2012.Methods:Measure the axis length of the patients by IOLMaster. According to the outcome of the test divided the patients into two groups. Examine and compare the average visual acuity of these patients in two groups3month after surgery.Main Outcome:Best corrected visual acuity before and3months after surgery, the outcome of IOLMaster measuring the axis length. Results:The mean post-surgery visual sight of the patients who failed in measuring axis length by the IOLMaster is0.6, the mean post-surgery visual sight of the other patients is0.8, the difference is not statistically significant (z=-0.960, P=0.170). Conclusion:According to the mechanism of IOLMaster, it suggests that those patients who failed in measuring axis length have a more opaque lens. But they have a same visual acuity with the patients who’s lens is not that opaque, it may caused by the difference of their visual function. Experienced a successful cataract surgery, the patients with a better visual function may get a better visual acuity. But from the data we collected in this observation, it suggests that the patients with more opaque lens don’t have a better visual function in common people. It may need further explore for the clinical phenomenon.
