Objective:To study the sexual function and the depression of patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) by using survey methods and to analysis the correlation of ED and the patient’s disease activity. Methods:International index of erectile function (IIEF) questionnaire and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were separately used to assess the patient’s sexual function and depression. The relations of ED and the patient’s age, disease duration, duration of morning stiffness, BASDAI, Serum C-reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and depression were analysed. Using SPSS17.0statistical software, two sets of measurement data were tested by T-test, comparison of the two sets of rates by χ2test. P<0.05was considered statistically significant. Multifactorial relations were analyzed by logistic regression analysis.Results:①Compared to healthy controls patients with AS had significantly lower erectile function, orgasmic function, intercourse satisfaction and overall satisfaction scores.(P value separately was0.01,0.00,0.00,0.00).Sexual desire was no significance of statistics (P value was0.74). Inspection level was P<0.05. An average score of depressive patients with AS was higher (4.17±4.28), it was statistically significant (P value was0.00).②Logistic regression analysis showed that, in addition to age and duration of morning stiffness, other clinical symptoms and laboratory indicators were no relations with the ED.ConclusionErectile function and the depression of AS patients may be easier than healthy control group. Occurrences of ED with AS patients are positively related to age and duration of morning stiffness. The greater the age and the longer duration of morning stiffness are more prone to ED. Depression status may also lead to ED.
