Objective: We examinate the foveal and optic disc retinal nerve fiberlayer measurement thickness of41patients (41eyes) from our hospital inJanuary to July of2011, by Optical Coherence Tomography,(OCT).Analysis the changes of two postoperative aera, whether phaco will causethe fundus nerve injury. Methods: Randomly selected41senile cataract patients (41eyes).Male21(21eyes), female20(20eyes). From the Second Affiliated Hospitalof Dalian Medical University after phaco emulsification and intraocularlens implantation. Measure the foveal and optic disc retinal nerve fiberlayer thickness in preoperative, postoperative1week,1month,3monthsand6months.Results: It is statistically significant of the macular area averagethickness compared with preoperative after1month; The macular areaaverage thickness values were compared with preoperative does not havestatistical significance after1week,3months and6months after theoperation; the retinal nerve fiber thickness increases with statisticalsignificance after1month and3months; postoperatively retinal nerve fiberthickness value of preoperatively is no significant difference after1weekand6months; the mean maximum of foveal thickness is during1month;after3months the thickness of peripapillary retinal nerve fiber get max. Conclusion: The average macular thickness of cataract patientsincreases after phaco in1month, returned to the preoperative level after3months later; During1month to3months,the peripapillary average RNFLthickness increases,6months later returned to the preoperative level. Phacopostoperative retinal despite changes, but the changes are transient and reversible. As long as the preoperative examination perfect operation, postoperative treatment properly, Phaco will not cause the severe retinalcomplications. Confirmed that the phaco operation safety, phaco operationclinical development provided academic basis.
