Cleft lip (cleft lip) is common congenital deformity of the oral and maxillofacial and is often associated with cleft palate, it is not only lead to children with serious functionality and appearance defects but also cause serious psychological disorder to the children and greatly the mental burden to the family. According to the epidemiological investigation, the prevalence of neonatal cleft lip and palate is about1:1000, but not exactly the same around. The results of China’s birth defects monitoring center showed that the years1996to2000,2,218,616more than one million perinatal in31provinces and cities nationwide detected2,265cases of cleft lip and palate patients, the prevalence rate is1.624:1000The formation of cleft lip and palate is that fetus receive some factors and the normal development of the embryo sudden and fusion is disrupted during fetal development, especially in the first12weeks of fetal development forming, it is possible to make various corresponding deformity to fetal. The exact cause and pathogenesis of leading to embryonic development and integration barriers, is not yet fully understood, the research results show that the pathogenic factors of oral and maxillofacial development deformity is varied, it may be a variety of factors in the same period or the result of different periods. Currently cleft lip is divided into unilateral cleft lip and bilateral cleft lip according to the fractured parts, unilateral complete cleft lip is a sub-type of the unilateral cleft lip, it is often associated with cleft palate (cleft palate), alveolar cleft (cleft alveolar process). Surgical restoration is the only method of treatment of unilateral complete cleft lip, the triangular flap (Tennison) and the Rotation Advancement method (Millard) are applicated more wider on clinical, two surgical methods have their advantages and disadvantages The subject mainly study postoperatively restoration effect of unilateral complete cleft lip with modified Millard repairing.Object Investigate clinical effect of using a modified Millard to repair unilateral complete cleft lip.Method Collected the33cases with unilateral complete cleft lip in children repaired by the modified Millard technique, observed clinical effect of reconstructive postoperative in children, and accurately measured health and ipsilateral lip height, nostrils diameter data of the patients after surgery6months,data is analysised by SPSS13.0statistical software, t-test for paired design information, the difference was no significant if P>0.05.Result The33cases of children with unilateral complete cleft lip were followed at6months after surgery, wounds of the33cases of children were healed in phase Ⅰ,the height bilateral lip were almost symmetrical, the shape of archwire was good, the morphology of vermilion was plump, the end of the ipsilateral nasal was closed well, the columella nasi was central, the size of both nostrils were basically symmetrical. The difference with lip height and nostril diameter of health and the ipsilateral was not statistically significant (t=2.150、t=1.981, P>0.05)Conclusion The research showed that the improved Millard method was an ideal surgical approach to repair unilateral complete cleft lip.
