Objective: To analyze the CT manifestations of common neck lymph node lesions, in order to improve the differential diagnosis of cervical lymphadenopathy.Materials and methods:The CT features including regional distribution, shape, margin, enhancement pattern and level of pathologically proven lymphadenopathy of133patients hospitalized in the Xinjiang tumor hospital from2010.8to2011.5wereanalyzed retrospectively and statistical analysis was performed by the chi square or Fisher test. Results:1.There were significant differences between six groups in regional distribution (P<0.003)2. There were significant differences between lymphoma and other groups and, between adenocarcinoma and lymph node tuberculosis inshape (P<0.003).3. There were significant differences between lymphoma and other four groups (squamous carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, lymph node tuberculosis, thyroid cancer) and, between reactive lymph node hyperplasia and other four groups(lymph node tuberculosis, squamous carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, thyroid cancer) inmarginal characteristics.4. There were significant differences between all groups except for lymphoma and reactive hyperplasia and, between squamous carcinoma andadenocarcinoma in inhancement pattern (P<0.003).5. There were no significant differences between squamous carcinoma and adenocarcinoma, lymph node tuberculosis, reactive hyperplasia of lymph nodes, and between lymph node tuberculosis andadenocarcinoma, reactive hyperplasia of lymph nodes in enhancement level, whilethere were significant differences between other groups (P<0.003).6. Necrosis were seen more frequently in lymph node tuberculosis than that of squamous cell carcinoma, lymphoma and reactive lymph node hyperplasia and the rate of necrosis ofmetastatic lymphadepathy of adenocarcinoma was higher than that of lymphoma..Conclusion:Regional distribution, margin, enhancement pattern and enhancement levelof cervical lymphadenopathy on CT images obtained by spiral multi-slice CT can provide important value for differential diagnosis of cervical lymph node lesions.
