ObjectiveTo investigate1268senile residents aged60and older of Ji county of Tianjin, and probe into the relationship between family history, personal history, height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, heart rate, as long as blood indexes like fasting blood glucose, triglyceride(TG), cholesterol(TC) and cognitive function. Discuss characteristics of rural seniors cognition status, and provide basis for Alzheimer’s timely prevention and control in rural areas.MethodsScreening for appropriate objects, gather sex, age, education, personal history of blood pressure and coronary heart disease, history of alcohol drinking, smoking and tea drinking. Measure objects’height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, heart rate, test blood for fasting blood glucose, triglyceride(TG) and cholesterol(TC), perform mini-mental state examination to evaluate cognitive status. Consider MMSE scores<17for the uneducated, MMSE scores<22for primary school educated, MMSE scores<26for middle school educated and above is cognitively impaired. Separate subjects into MMSE normal group(700) and MMSE abnormal group(568), compare sex, age, education, height, weight, body weitht index, waist circumference, blood pressure, heart rate, blood glucose, triglyceride, cholesterol, and family histories, habits like alcohol drinking between two groups. Separate subjects according to waist circumference, body weight index, blood pressure, blood glucose, triglyceride and cholesterol, and discuss the association between metabolic risk factors and cognitive status. Distinguish subjects by age, and probe into the influence age have on cognition. Analyse MMSE sub-item and discuss the range and extent of sub-item cognition impairment of rural residents.ResultsMMSE normal group has statistically higher percentage of male, higher waist circumference, higher diastolic blood pressure(P<0.05), as well as statistically younger age, higher education, higher percentage of smokers(P<0.01). Waist circumference and diastolic blood pressure is positively related to MMSE score, while systolic blood pressure is negatively related to it.(P<0.05,P<0.01). MMSE scores decreased with age increasing, the higher the age group is the higher percentage of abnormal MMSE scores are. Sub-item of cognition of the entire subjects is significantly lower(P<0.01). The top three of the cognitive domains which has higher percentage of impairs being memory(91.34%), attention and calculation(53%), orientation(70.27%). Memory(73.3%), reading(47%) and structural capabilities(47%) being the top three cognitive domains of lager fall of extent.ConclusionRural seniors’ cognitive status is related to sex, age, education, history of smoking, waist circumference and height, in the mean time, weight, fasting blood glucose, cholesterol are also related to cognition impairment. Rural residents’ has a wide range of cognition impairment, memory, attention and calculation, reading, writing being the main cognitive disturbance. Some sub-items of MMSE is not entirely applicable in rural areas. Rural seniors cognition status is not optimistic, rural people lack of awareness of Alzheimer’s disease. Cognition status of seniors in rural places needs more attention.
