Objective:We want to study the effect of curcumin on HDL subclasses, theexpression of ApoA-I and Caveolin-1in hyperlipidemia rat, We want to furtherexplore the efficacy of curcumin and its possible mechanism for regulating bloodlipid.Methods:40healthy male SD rat were divided into four groups, the normal group, the hyperlipidemia group, the small dosage of curcumin group and the large dosage ofcurcumin group, each group had10rats. Regular observation of the rat’s hair color, activity, be high-fat diet feeding.30days later all the rats were killed and the liversamples were taken. The Serum level of TC (total cholesterol)、TG (triglyceride)、HDL-C (High-density lipoprotein cholesterol) and LDL-C (low-density lipoproteincholesterol) were detected by full-automatic biochemistry. The Serum level of ApoA-Iand HDL subclasses were analyzed by radioimmunoassay. HE staining of the aortaobserved vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation changed, andimmunohistochemical detection of vascular and liver caveolin-1expression.Results: Compared with the normal group, the hyperlipidemia group increasedserum level of TC、LDL-C, the difference was statistically significant, while the TGfalling. Compared with the hyperlipidemia group, The small and large dosage ofcurcumin decreased serum level of TC、TG、LDL-C,the difference was statisticallysignificant. Compared with the hyperlipidemia group, The large dosage of curcuminincreased serum level of ApoA-I、HDL-C and HDL2, also increased the serum ofHDL2/HDL3ratio, the difference was statistically significant.Compared with thehyperlipidemia group, the large dosage of curcumin increased the expression of caveolin-1in vascular smooth muscle cell and decreased the expression ofcaveolin-1in liver, and the difference was statistically significant.Conclusions:1.The large dosage of curcumin can increased serum level of HDL2and the serum ofHDL2/HDL3ratio,also affected the distribution of HDL subclasses. This couldincrease the function of Reverse cholesterol transport.2.The large dosage of curcumin can inhibit the hyperlipidemic rats vascular smoothmuscle proliferation, this effect may be related to elevated the serum level of ApoA-Iand increased the expression of caveolin-1in vascular smooth muscle cells.
