Objectives: Invasive Pulmonary Aspergillosis (IPA) is not a rare complication inpatients with COPD in recent years. Symptoms are extremely non-specific, and thereforeit is necessary to be familiar with the risk factors for early diagnosis. This study hasattempted to clarify the risk factors associate with IPA in COPD patients. Methods: Aretrospective analysis was conducted for comparing the clinical notes of14patients (6cases of proven and8cases of probable) which were admitted from the First and SecondAffiliated Hospital of Xin Jiang Medical University from Febrary2011to December2012with COPD and IPA as experimental group, and another14COPD patients as controlgroup admitted in the same year matched with the similar age and COPD history, evenwith the same gender. SPSS19.0software was used for univariate analysis to clarify thecurrent evidence regarding the following areas: host factors and clinical symptoms signs, laboratory results and therapy process methods of study and treatment of this condition incritical patients. Results: In univariate analysis, the main predisposing factors weresmoking history (>2years, P=0.018), serum albumin decrease (<35g/L, P=0.001),previous hospitalization days (P=0.006), and transfer to ICU with mechanical ventilation(P=0.013) as also. Conclusions: Patients with COPD associated with long smokinghistory and decreased-serum albumin, long previous hospitalization days and transferringto ICU with mechanical ventilation were easier effective by IPA. It’s critical to pay moreattention when we treat COPD patients with those risk factors because of the highmortality rate.
